The best Black Friday broadband deals
Dan Howdle
It's been over a decade now since the UK embraced the concept of Black Friday, and in more recent years it's come to be expected that all the main broadband providers will conjure up some kind of special offer. And with the start of the following week now labelled 'Cyber Monday', the stage has been set for some of those special offers to run through the weekend, and well beyond. So we've gathered together what we think at the best Black Friday broadband deals on the market this year, many of which have been introduced a little early.
In this guide...

The best reduced price deals
Same broadband, lower monthly cost!
Special offers for Black Friday can take all kinds of forms, but obviously the simplest is when a provider just lops a chunk off the usual monthly price. It's simple, easy to understand and doesn't involve form filling and waiting around for a free gift to turn up!

A bit of something extra
When they're not busy slashing their prices, providers are often doing their level best to tempt new customers by offering some kind of little extra to draw you in. That could be a free gift, cash back, a bill credit (which might mean you have nothing to pay at all for a few months) or something nice like a pre-paid credit card. We've had a scout around and here are the most generous Black Friday broadband offers with a bit of something extra on the side.

Best Black Friday broadband and TV bundles
Bundling is always a good idea, even more so on Black Friday!
It'd just be daft to source broadband, TV and home phone from completely different providers. It's just so much more convenient, and above all cheaper to have them all bundled together in one package. It could even include a mobile phone SIM card too. So here are the best, all-in bundles we've found for Black Friday this year.

Best fibre broadband deals
It's a fibre optic world now
Technically, you can still get ADSL broadband, but only in exceptional circumstances if your property is quite isolated. Almost all UK properties can now access fibre broadband of some variety now. So the providers shouldn't really be making a big deal of that F word – it's just not that special any more. However, they do indeed, so here are the best fibre broadband deals we'd like to draw your attention to for Black Friday this year.

Best full fibre deals
Full Fibre is the new Fibre
There's been a host of names applied to it – full fibre, ultrafast, gigabit FTTP or FTTH – but the main thing is it's the next generation broaband and it's revolutionising connectivity in the UK. Basically, it's fibre optic broadband all the way to your home with no copper wire phone lines involved. It used to be that availability was very, very limited, but this is the first Black Friday where we can confidently state that the majority of UK households can get it. Still, it's a good idea to double checking by using our broadband postcode checker.

Best for gamers
That's broadband with speed and low latency
Contrary to common belief, you don't really need insanely fast broadband for a great gaming experience (although game file sizes often exceed 100GB, so it does help in that regard). But we know that fast download speed will still be top of a gamer's wishlist – along with low latency, which in some ways is even more important. So here are out top picks this year, gameheads. Enjoy.

What is Black Friday?
It came from the USA, and it's not likely to ever go back. It's a chance for the nation's providers and retailers to offer the best deals they possibly can, and thats not just on the Friday! These days the whole discounted period often stretches over a whole week or two for some providers, so it really can be a great time to make that long-delayed switch to a better deal. You might not find a better deal all year.
Black Friday broadband offers tend to be offered in the following four formats:
- Short term low price offers – You'll often see these marketed under the banner of 'flash sale' – a limited time offer, usually just running for the week or two around Black Friday, where a provider will temporarily slash the price of a deal (or deals). Alternatively, they may leave the price as-is, but offer a free upgrade like faster download speeds and so on.
- Bill credits, reward card or voucher – When a provider offers a juicy something extra to temp you to switch to them. Common temptations on offer include things like pre-paid gift cards or vouchers which you can usually spend as you wish (something BT and Sky traditionally offer), or perhaps a bill credit which basically means you start your new contract in credit and so don't have to pay anything for the first couple of months or so.
- Free gift(s) – Perhaps the most imaginative offers you'll find. Not many providers offer genuinely free gifts with broadband these days, but when they do they can be quite interesting, especially if it's the kind fo thing you're looking for at the time. For example, new smart TVs are a common offering, and that's great if you were thinking of upgrading your TV. But perhaps less so if you're perfectly happy with what you already have. Alternatively (and perhaps more usefully), the free gift may be in the form of a free subscription to something like Netflix or Spotify, meaning there are genuine savings to be had. Especially if you're an existing subscriber already.
So, should you switch broadband provider on Black Friday?
Yes, you really should consider it. There's no doubt that the best deals of the year are on offer around this time. But do think carefully and consider what the situation is with our current contract. It's probably not going to be worth switching if you hace to pay early exit fees, regardless of how good the deal is.
