Your guide to Sky Business Broadband packages
Dan Howdle
Sky might be best known for its TV packages and home broadband, but it also offers a growing (perhaps growing a little too much) range of business broadband deals designed for smaller UK businesses. Whether you’re running a shop, managing a busy office, or working from home, Sky Business has something to offer — and the right package can make a big difference to your day-to-day business.
From static IPs and business support to optional phone services and extras like Wi-Fi guarantees, there’s a bit to take in. This guide breaks it all down to help you work out which package suits your setup, and whether Sky Business Broadband is right for you.

Choosing the right Sky Business Broadband package
Sky Business Broadband offers three main packages: Essential, Advanced, and Ultimate. Each is tailored to suit different business needs, whether you're a sole trader or managing a larger enterprise. It's important to note that broadband speed is selected separately and is not determined by the package tier. Here's a breakdown to help you choose the most suitable option for your business.
What's included in each package?
- Essential: Includes 24/7 support, dedicated guest Wi-Fi, standard security, and a digital phone line. Ideal for small businesses or home offices needing core features without advanced functionality. No 4G backup, unlimited calls, call divert pack, or static IP
- Advanced: Adds 4G backup and unlimited UK calls to everything in the Essential package. Suitable for businesses that require added reliability and higher call volumes. Does not include a call divert pack or static IP
- Ultimate: The most comprehensive package, including all features: 24/7 support, dedicated guest Wi-Fi, advanced SecurityEdge protection, digital phone line, 4G backup, unlimited UK calls, call divert pack, and a static IP. Best suited to larger businesses with greater security and connectivity requirements
Considerations for your business
When selecting a package, consider how critical internet uptime is to your operations, whether you require a static IP for services like remote access or hosting, and the volume of calls your team makes. For example, if you rely on a stable connection for video conferencing or cannot afford downtime, the Advanced or Ultimate package with 4G backup would be a good idea. For lighter usage, the Essential is cost-effective and without potentially unnecessary extras.
What our expert says...
"Sky simplified its consumer broadband and TV offerings in recent years by binning 'packages' as such and offering a basic package to which you simply add what you need. Sky Business Broadband didn't get the memo, and offers a frankly insane number of package variations. Decide on the speed you need, then choose a package tier, depending on what you need included. That will get you most of the way there."

Sky Business Broadband packages explained
Sky Business offers three broadband packages – Essential, Advanced, and Ultimate. Each package is available with a range of speeds from 76Mbps up to 900Mbps (when paired with the Speed Flex add-on), but the real differences lie in the included features rather than the speed itself.
No matter which package you choose, you’ll receive the powerful Sky WiFi 6 Hub, which supports up to 100 devices, along with a digital phone line. As you move up through the tiers, you gain access to added benefits like 4G backup, enhanced security, unlimited UK calls, and a static IP – ideal if your business relies on an uninterrupted broadband connection.
Sky Business Broadband package comparison
If your business only needs the essentials – like reliable Wi-Fi and basic security – the Essential package is a solid starting point. If you need a connection safety net and more inclusive call features, the Advanced package has you covered. For businesses where security, reliability and flexibility are paramount, the Ultimate package delivers everything you need.
Phone services and add-ons
Every Sky Business Broadband package includes a digital phone line, ensuring you have a dependable way to stay connected with your customers and suppliers. Depending on the package you choose, you'll also gain access to a variety of helpful call features designed to make managing calls easier.
Business Talk International add-on
If your business frequently makes international calls, consider adding the Business Talk International package for an additional monthly fee. This add-on provides 500 minutes of calls to landlines and mobiles in 48 popular destinations, helping you stay in touch with overseas clients without worrying about high call charges.
Call handling features
Sky’s digital phone service comes with a range of features to help you manage your calls effectively. Depending on your package, you could have access to:
- Call forwarding: Redirect calls to another number when you're unavailable
- Voicemail-to-email: Receive voicemail messages directly in your email inbox
- Call waiting: Be notified of incoming calls while you're already on a call
- Do not disturb: Temporarily block incoming calls when you need uninterrupted time
- Anonymous call rejection: Automatically block calls from withheld numbers
The number of features available depends on your chosen package. For example, the Essential package includes up to 12 voice features, while the Ultimate package offers access to all 22 available features.
Digital phone line vs traditional landline
Sky’s phone service uses a digital phone line, also known as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). This means your calls are made over your broadband connection rather than a traditional copper phone line. With the UK’s traditional landline network being phased out by the end of 2025, switching to a digital phone line ensures your business stays connected.
Availability and network
Sky Business Broadband operates primarily over the Openreach network, which covers a large portion of the UK. This means that if Openreach has installed Full Fibre (FTTP) in your area, there's a good chance Sky Business can provide service to your premises.
To check what's available at your business address, you can use the Openreach fibre checker. Simply enter your postcode, and it will inform you whether Full Fibre is available, planned, or not yet in the works for your location.
If Full Fibre isn't currently available, you might still be able to get a part-fibre connection (FTTC), which uses fibre to the cabinet and copper to your premises. While not as fast or reliable as Full Fibre, it can still provide decent speeds for many small businesses.
It's worth noting that Openreach is continually expanding its Full Fibre network, aiming to reach 25 million premises by the end of 2026. So, even if you can't get Full Fibre now, it may become available in the near future.
Installation, support, and service guarantees
Sky Business Broadband aims to make setup and ongoing support as straightforward as possible, with a few important differences depending on the package you choose.
Installation and setup
Once you've signed up, Sky will send out the Sky Business Hub – a Wi-Fi 6-enabled router designed to handle up to 100 connected devices. If you already have a suitable Openreach connection at your premises, you can likely install the router yourself with guidance from Sky. If not, an engineer will visit to get you connected. Installation usually takes up to two weeks.
Static IP availability
A static IP is included as standard if you're on the Ultimate package. If you're on Essential or Advanced, it’s an optional add-on you can request during setup. A static IP is handy if your business uses remote access tools, hosts internal services, or needs extra reliability for certain applications.
Support across the three packages
- Essential: 24/7 support with basic security features
- Advanced: Adds 4G backup for automatic failover if your main connection drops
- Ultimate: Full support package including advanced security (SecurityEdge), static IP, and full call handling tools
All packages come with Sky’s 'Stay connected guarantee' — if your broadband drops and 4G backup fails, you’ll receive compensation.
