BT broadband rewards: Up to £150 virtual reward card

BT broadband router

BT is the longest established telecoms provider in the UK, tracing its roots all the way back to the telephony service of the Post Office. It's a brand that's a household name, and a brand that's very much premium rather than budget. But it's also a brand that regularly offers tempting rewards to new customers. They've recently ramped up those offers dramatically, now offering much higher rewards on their faster packages. And, as if that wasn't enough, they've waived their £31.99 up-front fee that previously applied to many of their services. That's a big deal. And it means now is a particularly great time to consider switching to BT – so read on and we'll take a deep dive on what they currently offer.

BT Broadband with rewards

For many years now, BT has been offering various extra little rewards to tempt new customers. Most commonly, this takes the form of a BT 'virtual reward card' – a pre-loaded credit card which allows you to spend your gift as and where you please. If the shop takes Mastercard, they'll take your payment. Often the reward cards offered by other providers are a bit more limited than this, so it's a format we certainly welcome.

You can see a full breakdown of every deal available from BT right now on our BT price comparison page. And it can be quite a bewildering array! But to help you narrow things down a little, here's what we think are the best three broadband-only deals available right now that come with BT's pre-paid card.

Fibre 1

, no upfront cost

BT has been offering its Fibre 1 package for a long time now. And while the days of this being considered a really fast broadband connection are long gone, we still think it'll be adequate for many users with limited requirements. You'll see average downloads of 50Mbps with uploads close to 10Mbps. There's also the advantage of it being pretty much universally available and it comes with a , which you can spend as you please.

Full Fibre 2

£40 reward card, no upfront cost

There may be much faster packages (and also much slower, if you're still unable to get the newer FTTP services), but we often think the lower-priced, lower-speed offers can represent the best real-world value. With Full Fibre 2 you'll get 80Mbps download speeds (BT guarantee at least 54Mbps), with 20Mbps uploads, which are still decent enough numbers for most people. Currently this package is available for £27.99 per month and there's no upfront costs. Plus, BT are including a £40 reward card, which isn't to be sniffed at. Also, if you're not in an area yet connected to the newer full fibre network, you can still get Fibre 2 at the same price, with the same reward. So whichever one works for you, you're quids in.

Full Fibre 300

£60 reward card, no upfront cost

We've said it before, and we'll probably say it again, but BT's Full Fibre 300 is probably the full fibre option that makes most sense, to the most people. It's a sweet spot, if you like. You'll get the peace of mind of using a premium provider, and a service that's fast enough for almost anyone (or even a small business). Right now, you can switch to this package for £30.99 per month and also pocket a £60 reward card. The speeds should be around 300Mbps for downloading along with 49Mbps uploads. And BT themselves guarantee a minimum of 150Mbps, which is pretty impressive. Overall, we think this is a great offer right now.

Full Fibre 500

£80 reward card, no upfront cost

We think this may be the pick of BT's bunch in terms of both value and speed. For almost all households, the download speeds of 500Mbps and uploads at 73Mbps will be absolutely more than adequate. And BT guarantee you'll see at least 425Mbps. Yet at £31.99 per month (with an effective monthly cost of £36.01 per month when you take into account the two price increases BT will apply over the course of the 24 month contract), it's significantly cheaper than it's BT's top of the line Full Fibre 900. But what's probably most notable right now is that right now is one of the very rare times when BT have actually increased their offer, now throwing in a £80 reward card. It's not often that we see BT make an offer as generous as that.

Full Fibre 900

£150 reward card, no upfront cost

Well, we just had to include this. It's the top-of-the-shelf broadband package from the nation's most popular broadband provider. You can expect blistering speeds of 900Mbps (with a guaranteed minimum of 700Mbps), and those are numbers big enough for just about anyone. Technically, there are faster services available from some providers, but none as widely accessible as this. And right now – for how long, we can't say – it's being offered with a huge £150 reward card. Granted, it's not dirt-cheap at £35.99 per month, but considering what you're getting, and that even the previously-pricy upfront cost has been waived, it's actually pretty good value. If you need the speed, this is where it's at.

BT broadband and TV bundles

Here at BestBroadbandDeals.co.uk, we pride ourselves on listing every variety of BT's services, and especially their broadband & TV bundles. There are a lot of packages, and although we can't list every version in our comparison tables, there are currently well over 30 bundles available – each with a unique price and, often, a unique reward. To try and simplify things a bit, we've picked out a selection of deals by hand – the packages we consider to be the most interesting, and those which represent the best value. Don't feel limited to these options though – it's really easy to switch to a different variety on the BT website.

One additional thing to note – although they don't have any such offers available right now, recently BT have taken a slightly unconventional approach to their special bundle offers in that for some bundles, in addition to a reward card, they're also significantly reducing the price of certain TV services. So do watch out for those kind of offers in future – what can look like a very low price isn't necessarily for the whole duration of the contract.

Full Fibre 150 + Entertainment

£50 reward card plus six months reduced price TV, no upfront cost

This is a great all-rounder, offering a perfectly adequate broadband connection, with download speeds of around 150Mbps (which is guaranteed to deliver an absolute minimum of 100Mbs), and an excellent selection of TV services. You'll get access to Sky Atlantic, Sky Max and others with NOW Entertainment, loads of Sky Originals and exclusives along with some great kids TV options. A Netflix Standard with adverts plan, meaning you can view on 2 devices in Full HD, and a discovery+ Basic subscription. Plus of course all the usual free-to-air channels along with an EE TV Box Pro. And at £47.99 per month, with the £50 reward card, this is probably the best value broadband and TV bundle BT is currently offering.

Full Fibre 150 + Big Sport

£50 reward card, £59.99p/m (£77.99 after 6 months), no upfront cost

This is a fantastic Sports TV selection, bundled with a sensibly quick broadband connection. For an introductory six month period at £59.99, then rising to £75.99 per month, you'll see average download speeds of around 150Mbps, which is enough for most individuals or even small households. And coupled with that you'll have access to loads of sports TV, featuring all 4 TNT Sports channels, 12 Sky Sports channels, plus discovery+ app with a discovery+ Premium (incl. TNT Sports) subscription. And of course you'll also have the NOW app with NOW Sports membership, and all free to air channels. All delivered via the included EE TV Box Pro. All round, if you're a sports an, we think it's a great little deal.

, £55.99p/m (£63.99 after 6 months), no upfront cost

We'll go up-market here and feature BT's . This features BT's top-of-the-range Full Fibre 900 broadband, which is going to provide reliable and astonishingly fast downloads and uploads at 0Mbps and 0Mbps respectively. And that's now widely available to a majority of UK addresses. TV wise, again this is a sports-orientated package, with BT's more standard sports options. You'll have access to all four TNT Sports channels, TNT Sports channels, the discovery+ app with a discovery+ Premium subscription and all the free-to-air channels you'd expect. All delivered via an EE TV Box Pro. Right now, this package is offered for six months at £55.99 per month (rising to £0 per month after six months) along with a really generous . So that's another great deal that's only available for a limited period.

, no upfront cost

By way of contrast, if you do really need the fastest broadband you're likely to find, and still want at least a basic TV service, this is a good choice. Obviously, you're going to get download speeds of about 900Mbps (it's guaranteed you'll get at least 700Mbps) and uploads of about 110Mbps. But that basic TV service is also going to give you Sky Atlantic, Sky Max and NOW Entertainment (which includes lots of Sky Originals and exclusives and childrens TV). Plus all the free-to-air channels, a recordable TV box, a Netflix Standard subscription, and access to Discovery+ Basic. Plus there's that little extra , too.

How do BT reward cards work?

Most broadband providers offer gift cards for specific retailers to attract new customers, but BT takes a different approach. Instead of partnering with individual retailers, BT partners with Mastercard to provide a prepaid card, which can be used almost anywhere. That’s a major advantage in terms of flexibility.

However, like other providers, the reward won’t arrive automatically with your new broadband (or broadband and TV) setup. You’ll need to manually claim your reward once your right to cancel the contract has expired, typically around 30 days after installation.

BT also stipulates that you can't claim your reward more than 90 days after your contract begins, giving you what amounts to a window in which to remember to claim it.

Offers from other providers with cashback rewards

Of course, BT isn't the only game in town when it comes to offering cashback or gift cards to new customers. To see all of the gift and reward options on current broadband deals you should visit our broadband comparison page, which shows all providers and their current offers. In the meantime here are a few select alternatives should you want to shop around.
