Slap-bang in the middle of Vodafone's Full Fibre range, we'd argue this is their best bang for buck. A perfect balance.

Finding the best Full Fibre deal – what to look for

Full Fibre is as good as it gets right now, and will be for decades to come, short of humanity inventing a technology that allows data to travel faster than light and thus breaking the laws of physics. So if you have the option for Full Fibre, choosing it is a must (in fact, providers will no longer give you the choice of Standard Fibre where Full Fibre is available.

The best package for you will balance the fastest available speed with great service, low cost and low latency. Here are the key considerations:

  • Provider reliability and support – What truly sets a provider apart is customer service, network uptime, and complaint handling. Ofcom regularly publishes a league table so you can see who's best and who's worst
  •
  • Upload speed – Not as important as download speed, but useful for tasks like file sharing, game downloading and computing in the cloud. Full Fibre delivers a lot more of it than Standard Fibre
  •
  • Router – A blazing-fast Full Fibre package is worthless if the router can't handle it. Ensure the included hardware supports modern standards like Wi-Fi 6 (or Wi-Fi 7!) to deliver those high speeds wirelessly throughout your home
  •
  • Latency and jitter – Full Fibre naturally provides extremely low latency (ping), which is essential for real-time applications like online gaming and live streaming. Providers sometimes offer gaming-specific packages that prioritise stable, low latency. If you see 'gamer' in a package name, it's usually that
  •
  • Find your speed sweet spot – While 1Gbps (or more) looks great on paper, most find the 'sweet spot' is in the 300Mbps to 500Mbps range, offering massive capacity and speed for a great price without reaching the premium cost of the gigabit-plus tier

When searching for the best overall package, aim for a provider with a strong service reputation, and choose a speed tier that maximises value.

Full Fibre versus Standard Fibre – what's the difference?

The difference between Full Fibre and Standard Fibre is – a lot. Standard Fibre is what most of us have used for years. It still relies partly on those old copper telephone wires to complete the journey from the cabinet in the street into your home. Those old copper wires slow the whole system down and can be unreliable, especially in bad weather. Think of it like a lovely, modern car trying to drive down a bumpy, muddy track.

Full Fibre, on the other hand, because it uses light and is pure fibre optic all the way, it’s much, much faster – we're talking speeds up to 20 or even 30 times quicker than Standard Fibre. Crucially, it’s also much more reliable and won’t slow down as much, even when the whole family is streaming films or making video calls at the same time. If you can get it, Full Fibre is the way to go. Always.
