One-month rolling broadband deals: Best short-term providers

Once commonplace, broadband deals on a one-month rolling contract are rarer than hen's teeth these days. Still, that's not to say they don't exist. More that you'll find them primarily among providers that don't have national availability, with one notable exception (Rebel Internet). It's a bit of a lottery. Nevertheless, here are the best one-month broadband deals right now.

1. BeFibre Be500 (1 month)

£37 per month • No upfront cost

BeFibre is an outstanding provider we would happily recommend to just about anyone. The catch is availability is scattered around England and Wales, so you'll really need to luck out to be able to get it. Unusually for a one-month deal, there's no upfront cost here, and you'll get 500Mbps both up and down. A great deal if you can get it.

2. Hyperoptic 1Gb Fibre Broadband Only

£46 per month • £29.00 upfront cost

Hyperoptic is a terrific provider with an enviable reputation for stable, fast broadband accompanied by excellent equipment and customer service. This one-month deal offers Hyperoptic's tops speed, at 900Mbps. The speed is symmetrical, meaning your uploads are going to be just as quick. This deal has an up-front cost (like most one-month deals), but you'll be able to cancel with just 30 days notice.

3. Vodafone 5GB Dongle or Mobile Wi-Fi Plan

£23 per month • £49.00 upfront cost

Vodafone’s 5GB Dongle or Mobile Wi-Fi Plan is a short-term option with a very small 5GB data allowance, making it only suitable only for light, occasional or emergency backup use. Because it’s a one month contract, it’s going to be good in specific situations such as temporary accommodation or needing a backup connection while waiting for home broadband to be installed.

Rebel logo

4. Rebel 115 Broadband (1 month)

£35 per month • £100.00 upfront cost

Rebel is currently the only provider offering one-month rolling deals across the whole country. There's a big upfront cost here though (fairly standard on one-onth rolling deals), so while being able to leave whenever you like can be useful, keep in mind it might not be a lot cheaper in the end, depending on how long you're planning on sticking with it. There's no phoneline as standard, but the 115Mbps speed is actually plenty for most households.

What to look out for

One-month broadband deals are ideal if you’re between homes, renting short-term or simply don’t want to be tied into a long contract. They are, however, pretty darn rare. Most of the providers offering true rolling monthly broadband are altnets such as BeFibre and Hyperoptic, with Rebel Internet being the main exception on the Openreach network and available nationally.

Because rolling contracts let you walk away whenever you like, the monthly price is usually higher than a standard 18 or 24-month deal. You’re effectively paying for the flexibility, so it’s worth balancing the short-term convenience against the long-term cost if you expect to stay a while. Here are the key things to look for when comparing one-month broadband packages:

  • True rolling terms – Check that the deal is genuinely one month at a time, with no minimum term hiding in the small print
  • Higher monthly prices – Expect to pay more each month than you would on a long contract, as providers price in the risk of you leaving quickly
  • Upfront fees – Some rolling contracts come with installation or activation charges, particularly with Full Fibre altnets
  • Speed and stability – Most one-month providers still offer fast Full Fibre speeds, but availability varies. Hyperoptic, for example, is only available in certain buildings scattered about the country
  • Equipment requirements – Most providers require you to return the router when you leave, while others may let you keep it
  • National availability – Rebel Internet is currently the only widely available rolling Full Fibre option using Openreach

If flexibility is your priority, one-month broadband can be a blessing. Just make sure the convenience is worth the extra cost and that the provider you choose actually serves your address.

One month rolling versus a standard contract

Choosing between a one-month rolling broadband deal and a standard 18–24 month contract comes down to how long you expect to stay put and how much flexibility you actually need. Rolling deals are brilliant if you're renting short term, moving soon, or simply don’t want to be tied down. But they are always more expensive than their longer counterparts.

Standard contracts, on the other hand, usually work out much cheaper. Providers reward a longer commitment with lower monthly prices, fewer upfront fees and, in some cases, extras like bill credits or reward cards you just won't see on a one-month. If you know you’ll be in the same home for a year or two, a standard contract can save you a fair bit of money over time.

The trade-off is simple: rolling contracts cost more each month but offer complete freedom, while long contracts offer better value but tie you in. If your circumstances are uncertain, or you just like the flexibility of being able to switch whenever you want, rolling terms make sense.
