Sky Full Fibre Gigafast

£80 gift card, free set-up, £35 per month

This is Sky's top speed, although as a Full Fibre package, it isn't available everywhere. It's not the fastest widely available broadband (that prize goes to EE's rather expensive 1.6Gbps package tier). But it is pretty good value for money considering how fast it is. If you think you need broadband so fast you can download huge video games in less time than it takes to watch a YouTube review of said game then this is the one for you. For everyone else, you don't need broadband this fast. Save yourself some money and go for something slower and cheaper. If you still want very fast broadband without paying top-tier prices, you can still get that with the Full Fibre 500 package (detailed below) and save yourself some money. If you absolutely must have the fastest speed available though? This is the one. And the £80 gift card is very generous, too.

Sky Superfast

£45 gift card, free set-up, £22 per month

This is now the only package Sky offers that isn't Full Fibre, and the only reason it exists is for those households who live somewhere Full Fibre isn't yet available (still around a third of households). Nevertheless, it's a solid performer, with an average download speed of 61Mbps, which is still enough for streaming and gaming, even in 4K. It comes with a £45 gift card, a Sky Hub router and a 24 month contract.

Sky Full Fibre 75

£45 gift card, free set-up, £22 per month

Sky's entry-level Full Fibre package comes in at 75Mbps. Sure, that's not much quicker than its Standard Fibre package, but Full Fibre is the point here. Even if this package were the same speed, it'd still be superior. Full Fibre is 60% more reliable, and once you have a Full Fibre line installed you can upgrade to practically any speed you need in future completely hassle free. As well as the £45 gift card you'll get free installation and a Sky Hub router on a 24 month contract.

Sky Full Fibre 150

£75 gift card, free set-up, £24 per month

Hang on a moment. This package is nearly twice as quick as Full Fibre 75, and only £2 per month more expensive. It comes with a £75 gift card. Faster speeds mean you'll be able to do more with your broadband connection and will be less likely to hit bottlenecks at busy times of day when everyone is using the internet. Sky prices this package incredibly close to Full Fibre 75 because it wants you to have that extra wiggle room. Comes in especially handy if you do a lot of streaming such as, for example, via Sky Stream.

Sky Full Fibre 500

£70 gift card, free set-up, £32 per month

Full Fibre 500 is Sky's second-fastest Full Fibre package, and yet again, the jump in what you pay is minuscule, asking just an additional £4 per month compared to Full Fibre 150. 500Mbps is extremely fast and comes with a £70 gift card. To put that in perspective, streaming 4K TV is one of the most bandwidth-intensive (requiring the most speed) things the average household can do, and 500Mbps will allow you to do that simultaneously to 30 TVs. Silly. But then, all that speed can be handy if you have gamers in the house, simply because of the sheer size of downloadable games these days.

How do Sky Broadband packages compare?

Here's a quick snapshot of Sky's complete range so you can see where this package sits.

Broadband Package Download Speed Upload Speed Contract Length Monthly Cost
Superfast 61Mbps 16Mbps 24 months £22 per month
Full Fibre 75 75Mbps 17Mbps 24 months £22 per month
Full Fibre 150 145Mbps 28Mbps 24 months £24 per month
Full Fibre 500 500Mbps 60Mbps 24 months £32 per month
Full Fibre Gigafast 900Mbps 100Mbps 24 months £35 per month

Pay-as-you-go landline calls

All Sky Broadband deals come with a phone line. Home landlines are less and less needed these days due to the fact we all have mobile phones, but you may still need one for a home business, or simply because it's how your household operates. Sky phone lines are pay-as-you-go as standard, meaning you pay for every call you make. However, you can specify a free anytime calls package at the checkout for a few extra quid a month, and if you're going to be using your home phone a lot for outgoing UK calls, we recommend you do exactly that.

Easy installation

Installation with Sky is simple, and often won't require an engineer to actually enter your home, unless you've been with Virgin Media for a number of years and need your phone line reconnecting. Usually, Sky will post you your router and give you a date to plug it all in, then it's simply a case of following some straightforward instructions to get you up and running. The whole process usually takes two weeks or less.
