Virgin Media Gig2 is the newest addition to Virgin's fibre broadband packages. Gig2 offers download speeds of 2Gbps with the option to add symmetrical upload speeds at extra cost. It is rather pricey, but then there are few other ways to get such speeds. Availability is also quite limited for now.

Customers on the Gig2 package receive the Hub 5x, Virgin Media's first router designed specifically for full fibre (FTTP) connections without the traditional coaxial cable.
- WiFi 6 technology – Supports the 802.11ax standard for better performance and capacity in crowded WiFi environments.
- 10Gbps Ethernet port – The standout feature. Unlike previous Hubs, the 5x includes a 10Gbps LAN port, allowing you to get the full 2Gbps speed to a wired device (provided your device has a compatible network card).
- Three 1Gbps Ethernet ports – Additional ports for standard wired connections.
- Dedicated Fibre connection – Connects directly to the fibre line, bypassing the older cabinet network for potentially lower latency and higher reliability.
Extras
As with other packages, you receive Virgin Media's WebSafe and Internet Security (F-Secure) to help keep your devices safe.
WiFi Max Guarantee – Unlike the slower M-series packages, Gig2 customers typically get the WiFi Max guarantee included at no extra cost. This promises download speeds of at least 30Mbps in every room or you get £100 bill credit. It includes up to three mesh WiFi Pods if needed to fix blackspots.
